Why am I getting tons of website visitors but no one is actually buying anything?

Google Analytics shows I’m getting like 300-400 people visiting my online store every week, which sounds great to me. But I’m barely making 2-3 sales. I spent a lot of money on Facebook ads to drive that traffic too. Are these fake visitors? Is my website broken? I don’t understand why people would visit and just leave without buying.

Your website probably isn’t broken and those visitors are likely real. What you’re describing is a conversion rate problem, which is one of the most common issues in e-commerce.

Traffic and sales are two different things. Your Facebook ads may be pulling in curious browsers rather than people ready to buy. Facebook users are typically not in “shopping mode” the way someone searching Google for a product is, so clicks are cheap but sales are harder to get.

A few quick things to check: Are your product pages clear about what you sell and why it’s worth the price? Is your checkout simple, or does it require account creation and too many steps? Do you have trust signals like reviews, return policies, and secure payment options visible?

Open Google Analytics and check how long people are staying on your site. If they’re leaving in under 30 seconds, your ads are likely targeting the wrong audience. Tightening who sees your ads will cost less and convert far better than casting a wide net.
